Building on the Rock – Matthew 7.21-24
Mt 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Mt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
In my reading today, I was impressed by these two passages and the thought that those who build their lives on the Rock, Jesus Christ. will hear his voice. The problem most of us have is how to know it is his voice. What does his voice sound like? There is no pat answer it is not easy. I believe that each individual that has been saved by the blood of the Lamb will “hear” from time to time the voice of the LORD. Like Elijah on the mountain, it may be a still small voice even in the midst of the visual distraction of a fire, the physical stimulation of an earthquake, that His voice will be heard. In the ears, no, but in the heart. It is not constant it is occasional, it is sporadic, it is unique and different for each individual. But those who hear it and place their faith in the message the Lord delivers and institute changes to follow that command are his children. Many go to church, they say they know Jesus as their savior, but never hear His sayings and do them; these are not his children. There must be a desire and effort to follow through with what the Lord reveals to them. This requires being in the Bible, his word. For as Jesus said:
Jn 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. The Psalmis says:
Ps 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Listen for His voice endeavor to do as he asks. He will never ask you to do something that He is not prepared to help you with.
