Isaiah 45

5 I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, 6 so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is no other. 7 I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things.

Everything is fine till my eyes and my mind read “ I bring prosperity and create disaster. I love the “bring prosperity” but “create disaster” does not set well with me. Many ask how could a good God create disaster for his children. Remember that here God is speaking to Israel and helping them to realize that He (Jehovah) must judge His children for their Idolatry, their self-centeredness. The chapter opens with the promise to raise up Cyrus, King of Media to return them from captivity (the disaster in their eyes) back to the promised land. In order for that to happen there will be wars and men and women slaughtered other nations and Israel included (disaster). So we need to be willing to accept that disasters will occur as God steers his will through the seas of mans success and failures. He must accept the fact that He creates disasters just as we accept that He can grant prosperity. Faith requires both. Faith requires that we see that

Romans 8:28 “28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

All things good and bad are steered by the hand of God. Trust him even when your life seems like a disaster. Jesus, God has a plan and this is just a single step in a life long journey. Cling to him and let him speak to your heart and assure you that He will never leave they nor forsake thee.
