It is just a Prank – Proverbs 2.14

Proverbs 2:14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perversity of the wicked;

Why is it that we become so focused on pranks? It seems the younger we are, the more enthralled we become with watching the perversity of the wicked. Social media especially appears to thrive on this. Everyone wants to post about some “prank” or some wicked behavior that someone was involved in, or caused. From surprise water balloon attacks, to confetti guns, pulling chairs out from under people, to documenting falls, porch pirates, etc.

The Heart of man is deceitful and desperately wicked. It is that wickedness that causes us to be attracted to and get involved in watching others suffer. We need to watch what we focus on, what we find delight in.

Today, pay attention to what you “scroll” through, what captures your attention, and if it has to do with the physical, emotional hurt of another person, scroll past it, dislike it, don’t share it.

Lord Jesus, help us to delight in your word, in kindness, gentleness, goodness, faith, and meekness rather than those things that would hurt others.

Psalm 1:1–2 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
