Relieving your aching spirit – Jeremiah 15:16
Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
This morning I was memorizing this verse when I realized the word of God is much like the ointment I was applying to my sore joints (it happens with age). You put it on (did eat), and it does not seem to be making a difference, but over time, it soaks in and helps relieve the pain. We receive God’s word by reading, listening, meditating, and memorizing it. It does not seem to alleviate the pain and hurts of Life at that moment. But over time, it provides Joy and rejoicing because we begin to realize the great privilege we have that the world does not. We are called by name by the God of heaven and earth. We are his, and he takes care of us and leads us.
