Bless God in the midst of hardship – Psalm 89-52
Psalm 89:51 Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed. 52 Blessed be the LORD forevermore. Amen, and Amen.
(My thoughts are not necessarily the true context of the psalm)
As I read through the psalm, I see David fleeing Jerusalem to avoid his son Absalom. He has his faithful few as he trudges along, knowing that much of what has come upon him has to do with his neglect of his son. In that misery of rejection, He is downcast. Yet look at verse 52. In the midst of the pain and the agony he is feeling, he still blesses the Lord, he does not blame him, he does not ask him to take it away, but declares “BLESSED BE THE LORD”. That is faith, that is confidence in the goodness of God, even when the goodness of God is not readily visible. Will you bless the Lord today, despite your problems and pain?
