Distracted? – Coloassians 1.23
When my heart wanders, and I can’t seem to stay focused, I find I start my reading and meditation, and my mind keeps jumping to tasks I need to finish, cleaning, reshuffling stuff on my desk, a prayer for this person, and a prayer for that person. Here and there, but never focused on listening to the voice of God, WHY?
For each person, the answer is different. Distraction of worldly pleasures, a sense that something is about to change, a sin we are refusing to deal with, concern and worry for another person. The key is to realize that you are making the effort, you are trying to focus, and maybe in a few minutes God will break through, and your time will become precious. God is looking for you to persevere by faith in the commitment you have made to stay focused on his word. Keep coming back, don’t give up. In that day, there will be pieces that He plants in your mind that he will use later in your life. Let the Lord use the morning and realize that He will bring it together. If we could control the distractions, then we would not need faith, and without faith it is impossible to please God.
