Abide rather than bear John 15.5

I was thinking about not doing anything to day, no devotional. So I went about my routine of reviewing memory verses. As I was reviewing John 15.5 I was typing out “I am the vine, ye are the branches, he that bringeth forth much fruit…. Bing, Wrong. that’s not the way the verse reads. The thought reminded me that how often we focus on wanting fruit and blessings rather than focusing on our relationship with God. You see the verse really says.

I am the vine ye are the branches he that abideth in me and I in Him the same bringeth forth much fruit for without me ye can do nothing John 15.5

NO fruit can be had until we learn to Abide in Him. We want the results the self satisfaction and approval of others and the blessings of God, but we neglect the time and effort it takes to simply abide, rest, listen and talk with our God, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
