Abuse others and your sin will find you out – Numbers 32.23

Throughout history, mankind has used the scripture to justify its actions. Many times, they were contrary to the full counsel of the word of God. They pull a verse or portion of a verse and use it to justify their behavior.  The scriptures were distorted to justify the enslavement of others because they were regarded as inferior and cursed people, whether it was the color of their skin or their sex.  They were regarded as property to be used, abused, and tossed aside like anything else they owned.  Yet God will judge them yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  They will be held accountable. Today, we look at one that caught my attention.

Leviticus 19:20–22 “20 And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free. 21 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a trespass offering. 22 And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before the LORD for his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done shall be forgiven him.”

The rape of slaves has been a common practice, and the owners of those slaves get away with it. The truth of the scriptures is that the man who rapes a slave should be scourged, whipped, beaten. Then he has to pay the price with an offering to the Lord, a ram for a trespass offering, which means he would have to confess his sin. How often do we think that we can get away with sins because of our position, power or ability to hide our sins? Be assured your sin will find you out

Numbers 32:23  But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.”
