Adam and Eves children – Genesis 5.3
So many blessings this morning from God’s word. First came as a I Pondered the scriptures
Genesis 5:3–4 3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: 4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
This is the beginning of the lineage of Seth, the Sons of God. Yet I thought I am sure Adam and Eve could have had children between the birth of Cain and Abel. Probably had children, but only Seth was notable to be mentioned. If they did have children. Every three years for the 120 years between leaving the garden (that’s when aging would have started) and those children having children every three years after the age of 20 (could have been 12), then the world’s population would have been 58,620. Now, realize that Adam lived to 930 years. Imagine how many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren Adam would have seen. To many for him to know or maintain contact with. I know a bizarre thought, but it is entirely possible.
Then, as I read in:
Proverbs 1:19 So are the ways of everyone greedy of gain, which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
I realized that striving for gain, being greedy, simply sucks the life out of us. It removes the joy of relationships. It consumes our time, keeping us from engaging with the God of the Universe, who owns it all anyhow.
God bless you as you not only read his word, but He allows you to explore its ramifications on your life and your understanding of His plan
