Eat of this Bread – John 6.35-36

JOHN 6:35–36 “35 AND JESUS SAID UNTO THEM, I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE: HE THAT COMETH TO ME SHALL NEVER HUNGER; AND HE THAT BELIEVETH ON ME SHALL NEVER THIRST. 36 BUT I SAID UNTO YOU, THAT YE ALSO HAVE SEEN ME, AND BELIEVE NOT.”

A multitude followed Jesus because they saw the miracles he did; he then fed them with five loaves and two fish. Their focus was on the physical need, when they asked for more bread, he said I am the Bread of Life. Many of us today are focused on God meeting our physical needs, whether that is physical provision or physical healing. God is able to do those things and when he does it is for a witness to us and to the world around us that He is alive and listening. God’s greatest desire is that we would be more interested in taking the truths of Jesus and the Word of God and eat them, chewing and swallowing and allowing those truths, his presence, his Holy Spirit to become an integral part of our lives. Just like the food we eat provides satisfaction and strength for us to take on our next task.

JOHN 6:51 I AM THE LIVING BREAD WHICH CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN: IF ANY MAN EAT OF THIS BREAD, HE SHALL LIVE FOR EVER: AND THE BREAD THAT I WILL GIVE IS MY FLESH, WHICH I WILL GIVE FOR THE LIFE OF THE WORLD.
