Everlasting Kindness Isaiah 54.7-8
Is 54:7–8 7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. 8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.
So God is talking to Israel through the prophet Isaiah. He is reminding them that he wants to help them rebuild their nation after His judgment of the Babylonian exile, he is foretelling it (the exile has not happened yet). How often do we feel like we need an opportunity to start over after our failures or the rebuke of God. The good news is that we can. It is the greatest desire of God’s heart not to leave us down and out, trembling and hopeless. He wants to help us, renew us.
Do we have the faith to believe that? Are you looking to God for his everlasting kindness? did you see the adjective “everlasting”? How long does His kindness last, yes that’s right – “forever”. God will always be there to pick you up if you will let him. The next chapter in Isaiah is the great invitation chapter where he reminds Israel that they will need to accept his offer.
