Overcome – Ezra 9.8

God wants to work with us to help us overcome our failures and mistakes

Ezra 9.8

Ezra 9.8 Ezra is confronting the people on their marriages to the pagan people that they have moved into the midst of. They returned from Babylon to rebuilt the temple and very quickly even the priests began to marry into pagan families (Pagan because it is not a matter of being a different race but commitment to a different god).

Ezra 9.8 And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.

God had so blessed them by returning them to the promise land and providing for the rebuilding of the temple. Despite their ignoring the command to not inter-marry God would still extend his grace. He would help them to see the truth and make the changes necessary to live according to the truth and give them a little reviving.

No matter what you have done wrong God is always there ready to provide us a little reviving from the sin and weights that so easily distract us. He wants to open our eyes to see the truth and bring us times of refreshing that come from the presence of the LORD.

Acts 3.19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
