Giving and Praising – Deuteronomy 26

Deuteronomy 26, an interesting chapter about tithing. In it, you hear the commitment of the tither to make sure the poor and needy are provided for. You learn that the Levites were to be provided for. Imagine giving the first part of the harvest of your grapes, grains, and greens. Stopping what you are doing, interrupting your busy schedule, and heading out to Jerusalem or to the house of the Local priest and giving one-tenth of the harvest. Then, you rehearse all the blessings the Lord has bestowed on you. When we tithe, give to God’s work, do we remember where our blessings come from and praise him for all things?

Deuteronomy 26.14…But I have hearkened to the voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me. 15 Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.”
