Here Am I – Genesis 46.2

1 Samuel 3:4 “4 That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.”

Genesis 22:1 “1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.”

Genesis 46:2 “2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.”

Jacob was in the midst of leaving the land that God had promised him.  He was headed for Egypt and, at the age of 130, wondered whether the promise would be fulfilled.  Yes, God had sent his son Joseph ahead and made him 2nd in command in Egypt; their survival was insured, but what about the promise?  Yet he responds to God, “Here Am I”.  with Faith in God’s promises to Him, he yields, leaves the land promised to him, and trusts God to

Acts 9:10 “10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.”

What an example for us to follow, men who did not have a copy of the scriptures, men who did not have the comforts and benefits most of us have today. Yet when the Lord called, they said Here am I. O Lord God, give us that faith, that we might answer your call the way that Isaiah did.

Isaiah 6:8 “8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

Make it part of your prayer before God every day: Help me, Lord, to not forget. Here I am, send me.
