Made new, Are you? Zechariah 3.3.5
Zechariah 3:3–5 “3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. 5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.”
So Zechariah gives us a visual illustration of what the Lord is going to do. In the context we see that a priest named Joshua is being hindered by Satan. The Lord rebukes Satan and then proceeds to remove Joshua’s filthy garments, that are a picture of the sin that hindered his calling to serve God in the temple. Then he is clothed with clean garments by God. How true of us. We all have a need to confess our sins and when we do the Lord removes our sins and failures from us as far as the east is from the west. But he not only removes them but then He, God clothes us with His righteousness, He clothes us in garments of white, pure before his eyes. Now with the devil rebuked, our sin removed, and new clothes we become effective servants of God.
