Strength to Change – Isaiah 40.29
Isaiah 40.29 He giveth power to the faint to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Indeed, we think of this promise when we are feeling tired and worn out. Our friends, our enemies have drained our emotional and spiritual tanks, and we are lying there exhausted. We have stopped long enough from all our efforts and feel hopeless enough that we call on the LORD. The nation Israel is being told that when the weariness of the exile and the oppression of their enemies has worn them down, they need to realize that God can give them strength to continue to press on. It is not a promise to remove the obstacles but a promise to provide what is necessary for them to continue to walk through that trial.
But here is another thought. What about those areas that you are trying to change? The efforts you are making to break a habit or create a habit, and success seems impossible. Would it not be a great time to claim this verse and ask the Lord to strengthen you to continue pursuing that God directed change to your habits? Ask him to forgive your sins, then take up that burden (mat) and move forward.
