The depravity of Man Joel 3.3
Joel 3:3 “3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.”**
This is a frightful passage to think that any human being would be so desperate and self centered enough to sell a boy or girl (not necessarily their own children, though still a possibility, for time with a whore/prostitute or for some wine (glass or vat). How unfathomable is this type of behavior, yet the scripture records it and many times we see the phrase “and every man did what was right in their own eyes”. Man without God and without the convicting work of the Holy Spirit can fall to unbelievable depravity.
In 2 Timothy 3:16–17 “16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
We hear Paul talking to his protege about the necessity of him clinging to the scriptures that his mother and grandmother taught him lest he get lead astray by those things that will occur in those last days.
2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
Lord Jesus, please help us to cling to your word, When we see selfish outlandish behavior may we retreat to your word to have our hearts an minds reminded that you have given us all things pertaining to life and godliness, we have been furnished for every good work and only in clinging to this thought can we avoid this type of behavior.
