01-27-2022 Wait our least favorite word
Psalm 27:14 Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
In our instant world: instant entertainment, instant food, instant information, no one wants to wait. Yet here we are in the word of God and being told to wait. Does that mean that the bible is outdated? Hardly, it might indicate why we are so weak in our relationship with God. The verse tells us that if we wait, He will strengthen our heart. So, the opposite would apply we are not strong because we are not willing to wait.
Some may say, God does everything in His time, so we have to wait for it to occur. This is true but if we are not willing to submit our will to His timing we will never be strengthened. We must be waiting with an expectation; we must wait willing to learn and change as we wait. God is more interested in our character development (courage) than the event we are waiting on. So, we should welcome waiting. In all of life improvement takes time, weight loss, strength training, skill training. All take time. If we are willing to wait for the Lord, we will develop courage. We will be able to face oppression, attacks, delays with confidence that God will provide what we need when we need it. Words, insights, skills, abilities, miracles will come if we wait on the Lord.
